IWOOT is the third company to release a mobile phone wrist watch the sWap after Hyundai and LG.

We are now in the “James Bond” era of mobile phone gadgets with this latest mobile phone watch. As it is a watch users will of course be able to tell the time, but in addition to this they will be able to make and receive calls via the phone that can be paired to a Bluetooth headset. Even better you can send and receive SMS and MMS messages from your wrist on its 1.5″ TFT screen.

The new sWap wrist watch mobile phone can do even more, as it is a music player too supporting a variety of formats including MP3, MIDI, WAV, AAC and MP4 files. And there is more! The sWap mobile phone also has a 1.3-megapixel camera that can be used to snap pictures and record videos.

The problem that mobile phone retailers have is that the customer cannot fully appreciate what a phone looks like, so they loose out to the high street mobile retailer.

A British company Astera3D has taken a step in the right direction by producing online 3D rotating images, as per the one below:

By clicking on the rotate buttons you can look at the phone from any angle so that you can see how the phone looks. by playing with the buttons at the bottom of the image you can even remove the back cover and see how the battery removal works – so instead of trying to work this out over the phone with customer support lines, you will be able to see it in action yourself.

The technology works by using a series of photographic images spliced together in a movie and it works great – so maybe the playing field between online mobile phone retailers and the high street has been levelled a bit more.

There is a new mobile phone scam about so be very careful if you have just taken delivery of a new mobile device.

The scammers are cold calling people that have purchased directly from the likes of The Care Phone Warehouse and offering them mobile phone insurance. These scam merchants do not seem to be taking no for an answer, so even where the person has already taken out mobile insurance, they are offering a better deal. The “Scam Insurance Company” is offering mobile phone insurance and then asking for the person’s credit card details for payment.

The best advice to anyone is NEVER give out your credit card details to anyone that phones YOU. Ask them to send you the details in the post or ask them for details of their web site. Before you proceed check into the company and make sure the company does exist. This goes for any received call for whatever service is being offered – do not give out your credit card details.

There is nothing wrong in using your phone to purchase items and giving over your credit card details, but only if it is you that made the call in the first place and to a known and reputable company.

The American Idol producers have had to change the phone number for voting for contestants after it was discovered that the number they were using was linked to an adult chat line!

The number 866-IDOLS-13 connects the voting public to a sex line providing phone sex services and the reason for this error is that this is the first time the program has had 13 finalists.

Any one that called this number would have been connected to a ladies voice offering nasty talk at the rate of $3.99 per minute.

If you are thinking about looking up to whom a phone number belongs you can do this by clicking “To Whom a Phone Number Belongs“.

You might have thought about using a free reverse phone lookup using a phone directory on the internet, some are free whilst others you will have to pay a small fee, enter the telephone number you are looking for, including area code, and start your phone number search.

Depending on whether the phone number you are looking for is a land line or a cell phone line will depend on the information you are given. For a land line you should get their name and address of the individual to whom a phone number belongs. With cell phones there is no central database so you will not get the same information – also the number you are looking for might not be listed.

To find out to whom a phone number belongs click here.

There is a deep recession going on and the car manufacturers are having a particularly hard time with car sales dipping significantly to the extent that governments are bailing out the huge companies.

Hyundai has taken a new approach to the slump in car sales by launching a new wrist-watch phone - the tri-band Hyundai MB-910 and they will unvail it at the Mobile World Congress later this year. The phone will be similar to the LG Touch phone, but a fifth of the price at a reasonable £200

The wrist watch mobile phone will be “sim-free” and come with a Bluetooth headset, 65,000 colour screen (with 58mm x 44mm dimentions) with a 132 x 176 resolution.

This is a little bit like “Beam me up Scotty” and really exciting for mobile phone users!
